Single Note - Caol Ila 12 Year Old
Tasting Notes
Nose
Smoked ham over a peated bonfire, sea breeze, herbal and citrus aromas make way for tobacco leaves and a light malty sweetness.
Taste
The peatiness is well balanced, black pepper, orange peel thrown on the fire then doused with a briney splash, hints of TCP and a slight liquorice tang.
Finish
Rich and oily, stays with you for a good length. Grape and bitter black tea tapers off the end.

Jazz music and a good single malt whisky, two things independent bottler Rick Van Diepen holds close to his heart. That's where Single Note was born, a combination of the owners' two true passions. When somebody is this passionate about their product, you know its going to be good.
The second release by Single Note follows their highly successful, and now sold out, Caol Ila 5 Year Old bottling. Caol Ila was Rick's first distillery visit, and he fell in love with it. Its only right for him to choose it for his first release... and seeing as it went down so well we're not surprised he's stuck with it for the second!
Nestled on the east coast of the Isle of Islay, the Caol Ila distillery overlooks the sound of Islay, the narrow straight of water between Islay and its neighbouring island, Jura.
This is in-fact where the name originates from, Caol Ila is Gaelic for Sound of Islay.
A beautiful spirit and classic embodiment of the Islay whisky characteristic. A dance of peated maritime notes and citrus undertones, a delightfully complex yet balanced dram.
