Tasting Notes
Nose
A classic islander, chunky peat smoke, briney sea spray over a damp smouldering bonfire. A slight medicinal hue mixed with an almost minty freshness.
Taste
Sweet & smokey, the medicinal flavours stand aside for a spicy kick of pepper. There's a fruitness to it too though, as well as some creamy malty vanilla notes. This one hits different.
Finish
A firkin perfect finish, smokey pepper

You've stumbled upon a treasure here, the elusive Firkin Rare!
When Sicily met Mull. This new rendition of the Firkin Rare sings a beautiful song of Hebridean spirit and Mediterranean heart.
Firkin was created by a fine gentleman named Mike Collings. A legend of the industry with an incredible track record in whisky.
Responsible for the Johnnie Walker Blue & Green Labels, The Classic Malts, Rare Malts, Distillers Edition, Flora & Fauna series, Cardhu and Royal Lochnagar, Mr. Collings is well versed in conjuring up a fine dram. You're in good hands with this one!
Mike is many things, but sensible is by far not one of them. He likes to stir the pot and poke some good-natured fun at some of the more pretentious malts out there.
That's the beautiful thing about The Firkin Whisky Co. they don't take themselves too seriously. Life is for seriously good whisky, and when your single malt is this good, you don't need to be pretentious about it.
The Firkin Whisky Co are renowned for their unique approach to cask finishes. Each dram is perfected in their own custom made, double-oak casks, and then seasoned with a perfectly paired soulmate wine.
The custom cask used to finish this Firkin Rare was a combination of American first-fill Bourbon staves & new French Limousin oak staves, seasoned with a custom char and sweet Sicilian marsala wine.
Distilled at the Tobermory Distillery, the only distillery on the beautiful Isle of Mull, this 12 year old Ledaig is a true rarity.
Ledaig (pronounced led-chig) is the Gaelic word for "Safe-Haven" and is the original name for the area in which the distillery is found. It is now Tobermory Distillery’s signature smoky expression, distilled from heavily peated malted barley.
This Double Oak cask, mixed with the 12 year old peat-smoked Ledaig and the rich sweetness of the Marsala, creates a truly unique flavour profile.
Sounds crazy right? These guys and their hand-built casks are just crazy enough to make it work. Another Firkin exceptional dram!
